Mad Tea Party

Welcome to the Mad Tea Party hosted by A Fanciful Twist!  Please go to that site to see all the links to the party.

This is the first year that I'm attending the party.   I'm fashionably late as I misplaced my invitation....

I've made two tags for this linky party, Alice and the Mad Hatter.  I've woven into the story some previous art work.

Here is Alice.  She found the right key to enter Wonderland.

It's been quite an adventure chasing after that rabbit.  Where is he off to?

Ahead, she spies a spot of tea.  She thinks she'd like to stop and sit a spell.

And discovers she has stumbled upon a tea party hosted by the Mad Hatter.

Shall we join them?

Details on the Mad Hatter Tag as I'm using it for some other challenges which are listed below:

Papers:  Heidi Grace, DCWV as well as some paint swatches to make tag and paper piece outfit.

I made my own tag base and tag background, using some number stamps and a blank sliver of rubber (10/6).
Ancient Page Stone Gray ink pad and Copic marker C3 Cool Gray.
Edging:  Ranger Distress Ink Dusty Concord, Prismacolor Marker PM-115 Cool Grey, Dylusions stencil

Boy Stamp "The Boys in the Woods Series", from Thru the Woods
The face and hands are stamped on a Prima Flowers cardboard package.

Crafty Secrets Clear Art Stamps "Greetings from Wonderland" stamp set for the message on the hat "Mad as a Hatter".  (Also anaother greeting used on Alice Tag and the rabbit and watch on journal page).

Linking Mad Hatter Tag to:

Summer of Color Week 3 at the Twinkle Twinkle blog:  Catching up with this one--lavender and gray with a pop of plum.
For this 6 week series, I'm making a paper doll for each week's color prompt.  Alice was made for the first week.

Crafty Secrets July Linky Party at the Heartwarming Vintage Blog--you gotta love having the perfect stamp for a project. Sentiments on both tags from Crafty Secrets---love that "Mad as a Hatter".  Also, the page from my paperbag book has the clock and rabbit from this stamp set

Layer Upon Layer

This month's issue at Unruly PaperArts blogozine is focusing on Layer Upon Layer.

For my article submission, I concentrated on layering paper with my Prima doll stamp and layering ink and embossing powder on my bird cage.

I have an obsession with paper dolls.  At age seven, I would anxiously wait each week for the Sunday paper.  In the comics section, there was a cartoon strip of a paper doll and some outfits.

Fast forward to today.  Many decades later, I still enjoy all art versions of dolls and most recently am obsessed with Julie Nutting’s doll stamps for Prima.

For the full article with all the details about my layering, please read my column HERE.

I'd like to enter this scrappy page in:

4 Crafty Chicks: Inspired by a Song Challenge :  I Believe I Can Fly by R. Kelly

Speaking of challenges, I'd also like to remind you about the Unruly Paper Arts Reader's Art Quest.  Robin's Nest has donated a textures prize worth $70 retail.  If you'd like to enter, link up your entry at UPA HERE.  Any art form is welcome.  Just use the creative prompt  "Summer Fiesta" OR the prompt and photo inspiration.

July Gecko Galz Cross Promotion

At Gecko Galz, our July Cross Promotion is WITH WILD ABANDON.

Here is what I created as my design team sample.

I chose this image from the Gecko Galz July release, Petticoat Princess collage sheet.  I then layered the beautiful frame from With Wild Abandon in the blank space on top and added the word "TORN".  To me the image represented "torn between two lovers" because of the two men waiting at the gate.  Everything then is layered onto pink patterned paper and placed on a black card.  I highlighted the flowers with Wink of Stella glitter brush.

One of my favorite actors, Johnny Depp, is quoted as having said,
"if you love two people at the same time, choose the second.  Because if you really loved the first one, you wouldn't have fallen for the second."

Please look for all the Gecko Galz design team cross promotion creations at the Gecko Galz website HERE. While there, check out the July sale and the customer Beachy Keen challenge!

Gecko Galz July Customer Challenge

July's challenge for our Gecko Galz customers has a beach theme.

Just use at least one Gecko Galz product in your creation and link it up to the Gecko Galz BLOG which is HERE.  Winner will receive a $25 shopping spree at Gecko Galz and a With Wild Abandon gift pack.

I used an image from the Splish Splash collage sheet and digital paper from La Isla Bonita pack.  Both are July releases at Gecko Galz.

I printed the paper twice so that I could fussy cut some of the foliage and layer it with pop dots for dimension.  I added part of a fish necklace for trim.
